• the influence of microwave on the leaching kinetic of zinc silicate ore in alkaline solution

     this work presents a study for the leaching kinetics of zinc silicate ore from iran in alkalin solution under conventional- and microwave-heated-conditions. the effects of particle size, alkalin concentration, reaction temperature and microwave irradiation time were investigated. microwave irradiation can slightly increase the extraction of zinc from 77.45 to 91.4 for conventional and microwave leaching respectively. the data from both microwave and standard leaching tests were best fitted by a shrinking particle model in which, the surface reaction controlled the rate. it was found that the activation energy calculated for microwave leaching (43.24 kj/mole) as calculated from the data was slightly lower than that for standard leaching (45.53 kj/mole): however, the difference lies within the limits of experimental error. with increasing particle size the rate of zinc leaching decreases and with increasing alkalin concentration and reaction temperature zinc leaching increasing.
