self-supporting lattice towers are special structure, which is mostly used as electrical transmission pole and telecommunication towers. many codes of practice have been published for loading and design of these types of structures. these types of towers are generally lightweight in comparison to building a solid structure and are also easier to fabricate and erect. self-supporting telecommunication towers are designed to resist environmental loads such as wind and ice accretion on their components, usually without considering earthquakes.this paper presents a comparative study of asce/sei 7-05(2006) ,tia/eia-222-f(1996) , indian standard part3 (is:875), bs 8100 and iranian code part6 which commonly used for loading telecommunication towers in many countries. a detailed example is presented to illustrate the overall comparison and to high light the main differences of compared codes of practice. structure of study is as follows: at the first, design code parameters such as gust response factor, structure force coefficient and etc. have been investigated. then a tower as a case study has been analyzed based on wind design code. finally, the maxima and minima of the shear and moment force induced at the height of the tower found to be related on bs8100 and asce/sei 7-05(2006) code of design, respectively.
