creativity is the greatest of human intelligence. the more complex the world becomes, the more creative we need to be to meet its challenges. tomorrow’s thinking skills can be taught today. the aim of this paper is to help architecture teachers prepare creative and critical thinkers. creativity enables individuals and groups to manage change and deal successfully with complex, open-ended challenges. growing complexity and unpredictability mean our economy and society demand ever greater creativity from workers and citizens. however, differing levels of confidence, inequalities of wealth and varying skills mean not all individuals are equally able to meet this challenge. education systems should be geared more clearly towards equipping people with the power to create. people of every age can learn to develop their creative capacities both as a means to raising attainment and broader outcomes, and as an important end in itself. this paper seeks to close the creativity gap by leading an approach to learning and development that enables everyone, regardless of background, to generate original, valuable ideas and make them happen.
