the process of becoming refers as a general type of concept in which structure of activity and passivity remains undecidable. therefore, the process of becoming can integrate into itself, so that the parameters by which it makes sense and becomes meaningful. kafka’s work, the metamorphosis deals with deleuze’s and guattari’s ideas of postmodern changes in which the main character is influenced by other forces which bring about consequent changes in his life. in fact, gregor realizes that he has to enter into a new system in which different forces including social, political, and cultural ones affect the formation of his identity because of his limitations since he is body without organs. in other words, now he is located in a new system in which any changes bring about other changes which need his adaptation to the new system. gregor must go through the process of assemblage in order to fit into the new system since differences distinguish him in the society. the aim of the current paper is to investigate deleuze’s and guattari’s theory of becoming in kafka’s the metamorphosis.
