هدف اصلی از برگزاری همایش های بین المللی مهندسی سواحل، بنادر و سازه های دریایی ایجاد فضای مناسب جهت بحث و تبادل نظر و انتقال تجربیات میان متخصصین و دست اندرکاران مهندسی سواحل، بنادر و سازه های دریایی از کشورهای مختلف و اطلاع از آخرین دستاوردهای علمی، فنی و تجربی آنها می باشد. در این زمینه تاکید عمده بر ارتقاء کیفی سطح علمی مهندسی سواحل، بنادر و سازه های دریایی در کشور می باشد. علاوه بر این همکاریها ICOPMAS بستر مناسبی را جهت ارائه توانمندیهای تخصصی موجود در منطقه فراهم میکند.
