     for a regular semigroup s, the set rp(s) of regularity-preserving elements of s is, if non-empty, a completely simple subsemigroup of s. in this paper, we develop some of the properties of rees matrix semigroups s = m(t; i, λ; p), where t is a regular monoid, and the entries of the matrix p lie in the group of units of t. we show that, if the matrix p is uniform, then s is isomorphic to the direct product of a rectangular band and a regular monoid. also, we generalize two results that are known for completely simple semigroups.
