existence of cracks in asphalt concrete causes it to be failed by lower stresses than it is considered and it results in less operational age. in respect of the importance of predicting the initiation and the propagation of fracture in asphalt concrete and its brittle and linear elastic behavior in lower temperatures, the use of fracture mechanic in study of the cracks characteristics of asphalt mixes will be profitable. most important parameters that the fracture mechanic uses to describe the high stresses zone surround the crack tip in linear elastic conditions are stress intensity factor (sif), t-stress and g (fracture energy). in this article, these parameters have been studied under different physical and mechanical characteristics of asphalt mixes in test specimens and effect of these characteristics on fracture parameters have been compared.
