analysis of the outdoor spaces in tehran’s hospitals and their environmental features impact on treatment process

courtyards and open areas according to their variety of functions are very important. considering to prove the impact of the physical environment in therapeutical spaces and the lack of a coherent case studies in iran, this article with the aim of finding effective and efficient solutions to design the environment in which considering the performance of open and green spaces in selected hospitals in tehran, has investigated their effective features in the treatment process. in this paper, thirty-five courtyards are analyzed with the focuse on the application of courtyards in the context of tehran hospitals. besides the courtyard functions, design variants are probed and recorded in terms of its form and aspect ratio, courtyard orientation and physical features within the courtyard. the results are categorized in six groups in which due to the number and quality of design revealed in tables and graphs.
