overview of vernacular architecture in two climates: rocky houses varkane (hamadan ) and craw houses (south of iraq)

the present paper, with an emphasis on field considerations, describes the types of architecture and vernacular architecture of different types of housing in the village varkane which is located in hamadan province, khuzestan and southern iraq. this typology is based on the general form of view, plan, understanding spaces and internal relations.

by conducting library studies, the climatic characteristics and characteristics of vernacular architecture and the importance of local architecture recognition and necessity of extraction of hidden principles in this architecture are discussed, the results of this study indicate that four types of residential plans are observed in the village of thatched and the village of straw.

these species are linear, species, shape, and form of the central courtyard. different types of housing in this village and the linear form of straw housing are organized according to appropriate climatic orientation, suitable illumination of the spaces, creating spatial relationships, combining residential space and workspace, also creating visual communication with the surrounding environment.
