    big data analytics in the electricity sector

    this paper offers an overview of the impact that bda has had on the electricity sector across the generation, transmission, and distribution processes. in particular, the analysis presented in this paper has focused on three industries: o&g, renewable sources, and smart grids.

    for each of these, a selection of use cases was made, and these were compared according to technical and business model criteria. while the o&g industry has been slowly increasing its usage of ai and analytics across different areas, the electricity distribution and retail market has seen the emergence of innovative data-driven business models, thanks to the synergetic adoption of smart grids and renewable energy sources.
